Is an integral part of Shaolin Kung Fu. If kung fu is the sword then the sharpness of the blade is Qi Gong.
Qi Gong is a 2500-year-old ancient Chinese health care system; integrating physical postures and breathing techniques. It has been refined though the ages by monks in response to the present needs.
Qi = breath
Gong = Skill/Achievement
The practice of Qi Gong builds, accumulates and circulates the flow of ‘Qi’ energy latent in our bodies, resulting in improved health and physical and social conditions. The cultivation of ‘Qi’ is vital to the Shaolin philosophy of the unity of Ch’an and Wushu.
There are many forms of Qi Gong and they all have a specific purposes and differ from each other. They are simple, effective and yield immediate changes. These yield benefits in martial arts as well as medical benefits. However one differs from the other. For example the form of Li Ji Jue is primarily a health Qi Gong where as Li jen Gong based on the same principals develops the martial aspects of your training. Amongst many forms we teach the forms of Li Ji Jue, Yi Jin Jing, Ba Duan Jin to name a few. Each individual responds differently to Qi Gong Forms and you have to find out which is the most suitable for you.
Tai Chi is commonly misunderstood; without combat techniques it is useless. It is often referred to as the ‘Ultimate Fist’ and has a unique style of attacking. It applies immobility as conquering change and flexibility as suppressing force. Tai Chi also teaches to avoid the enemy's main forces, strike the weak point and use the force received to defend; invite the opponent in, break up his strike or deviate his force. It is follows the principle of Yin and Yang and is an internal art form. It is commonly known as meditation in motion. A practitioner moves the entire body as a unit that is what makes it appear superfluous.
